Three Trees Tapestry

A way
For those of us too old
To color outside the lines

Hi,
I have completed a project on your looms which you might want to post for others
to see.

The project is the beaded pattern of the five animals in the William Morris
tapestry called "The Forest". The critters are: lion, raven, peacock, hare, and
fox. The following URL's are on my ftp account, which anyone can click on and view.

The raven, fox and hare were all woven in separate bead units but on the same
warp thread set up. The charted color patterns came from Beth Russell's various needpoint books. The
widest pattern bead count was used as the base, The smaller patterns were adjusted with a couple extra
bead lines on the sides. This technique saved me from warping up two additional projects. The only
drawback is you have to complete all the pieces of the project before removing it from the loom.

I used my modified loom base to reach behind the front warp threads in sewing
them into the warp matrix. This is the same loom I sent to you a couple months ago. The technique works
very well for my bead weaving projects. This project was started about 9 months ago. When they are
removed from the loom, I will sew the warp threads into a folded leather tab and tie the warp threads knots on
the other side. Both inside sides will be covered with leather glue, several coats, then pressed together making a finished warp thread coverage on each end of all three projects. Yes, it does take some time, but the finished result is outstanding with the many comments from customers.

You can post these on your mirrix site and the yahoo site if you want. If someone wants to print them, contact me, I'll send them a high quality tiff image format URL. There are some variations in the lighting of the beadwork on the loom because I was using several systems with different results.

The last animal of this project is the lion. I will be warping up the loom this week and will send you the finished images when done.

Best regards,
Joe Dennard
